Birth Announcement

The puppies started arriving at 12:03am  on
January 9th.  There are 3 boys and 3 girls in the
litter.  Everyone is eating well and gaining
weight nicely.  My 4-year old granddaughter
took great pleasure in naming several of the
puppies.

1 Week - Update

At the age of 1 week, all the pups are gaining
weight nicely.  The puppies do not open
their eyes until the age of 2 weeks. Their
ears do not open until they are 3 weeks.
Their sense of smell is how they explore
their world in the beginning.  I begin holding
and massaging the puppies from day 1 and
allowing them to smell my breath and be
nestled against my chest s
o that they are very
comfortable with people.

2 Weeks - Update

The puppies all are growing very nicely.
Everyone eyes were open on their 2 week
birthday.  Everyone is used to being held
now and snuggles contentedly against me
after their daily weight check.

3 Weeks - Update

The puppies continue to grow and put on
weight well.  Everyone is responding to
sound on their 3 week birthday.  They
moved with mom from the nursery into a
playpen crate in the living room.  They will
begin to sit up and take a few steps this
week.  They will be awake for longer periods
of time and begin to play with one another
instead of just cuddling.

4 Weeks - Update

The puppies had their first bath and groom
today.  Everyone was amazingly calm for
both experiences.  On the groom table they
received a face and feet shave after their
blow-dry.  They came out of the playpen
crate to play for short periods of time.  The
pups had their first solid food and wasn't all
that impressed the first couple of meals.
However, after a couple of days they have
come to appreciate the smell and taste of the
food.

5 Weeks - Update

The puppies had their 2nd bath today.  I am
still very impressed with the calmness of this
group.  Usually there is at least a couple of
unhappy pups when it comes to the bath
and blow dry - not this group.  My 4 year old
granddaughter helped with baths and even
she remarked on how calm the pups were.
Penny is spending most of her time away
from the pups, returning to feed them a
couple of times each day.

6 Weeks - Update

T
he puppies went to the vet for their
first puppy vaccination and exam.
Everyone did great and the staff at the
vet's office thoroughly enjoyed having
puppies to cuddle.  They bring smiles to
everyone's faces.  This week they will
start napping in their individual crates
during the day.  They will go "outside
potty" several times each day receiving
lots of praise when they take care of
business.  Playtime in the kitchen will be
enjoyed by everyone.
