The puppies began arriving at 6:22 pm on June 22nd. Penelope delivered 2 girls and 3 boys. With only 5 pups in the litter, Penelope has an abundant supply of milk. The puppies are all eating well and gaining weight daily.

The puppies are all doing really well. They are growing on schedule. They are weighed every day and receive a belly rub and back massage. I gently rub the pads of their feet also. Their eyes and ears are closed at this age.

The puppies are progressing nicely. The girls’ eyes were open on their 2-week birthday. The boys’ eyes opened the next day. Penelope and the pups will move out of the nursery into a playpen crate in the living room as they near their 3-week birthday.

The puppies continue to grow and thrive. They are starting to sit up and take a few steps. Penelope and the pups moved into a playpen crate in the living room. This allows them to participate more in family life. They also start “going potty” at the back of the crate which has grates so that they do not have to be cleaned as often by their mom.

The puppies had their first bath and blow-dry. Their faces and paws were shaved. Everyone enjoyed their first solid meal. They will eat solid meals 3 times a day while continuing to nurse throughout the day. Next week Mom will begin leaving them for short periods and nursing only 2-3 times each day. They received their microchips.

The puppies had their second bath and blow-dry. Everyone is eating food and will be weaned from Penelope by 6 weeks of age. My grandchildren very much enjoy playing with them. They moved out of the living room into a playpen crate in the family room.

The puppies had their weekly bath and mini grooming. They visited the veterinarian for their first exam and puppy shot. They have enjoyed their first outside experience. We begin outside training now. Daytime naps will be taken in their individual crates this week.

The puppies began their house-training this past week. They go outside as soon as they wake up. They come in and eat and go outside for “Potty” again. They come in and play in the kitchen until they start laying down for a nap. At that point, I put them in “bed” with a treat for their nap. This way, when they wake up, they can bark and let me know they are awake and need to go outside. We follow this pattern throughout the day. This week they will also begin sleeping overnight in their individual crates.
